Award
winning photographer Marjie Brown has a passion for bringing
home the energy and spirit of faces and family from the backyards
of America to the temples of Cambodia. Marjie has traveled
extensively throughout the world, from the Himalayas and Southeast
Asia to New Zealand and South America. She engages fully in
the environments of the people she photographs. Her career
began as an adventure documentary cinematographer. She filmed
extreme skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and climbing
from Alaska, and the deserts of the American Southwest, to
the high flanks of Mt Everest. She progressed into still photography
over time as she found the element of intimacy becoming increasingly
important in her work. Her current focus is capturing the
unique and often invisible energy of the individual human
spirit and their interaction with the world around them. Whether
that takes place over the barbeque in the backyard on a summer
evening in Utah, or over a family meal on the floor of a mud
hut in Rajasthan, Marjie is equally at home.
